I’m looking into this year with great expectancy and anticipation. More so than any other year in my life. In this moment of clarity, bravery is my close companion. Will there be days ahead of insecurities or doubt? Most likely, but I will face those days with patience and prayer…and a sound mind. I want to live in each moment fully and optimistically; purposefully making lasting memories. I wish to decorate each chapter as best I can using what God has graciously and abundantly gifted me. In doing so I believe some good people will be encouraged to see the beauty in everyday simplicities and ultimately learn to Live Decorated in their own special way. We’re all on this planet for a purpose and each of us should utilize our gifts to lift each other up and make a difference in the lives of those around us.
SO SO SO many posts to enter right now so I get a little overwhelmed...so here are some random shots of my entry....only a couple things to tweak...like the blue mirrors....not my favorite color choice.
can you tell I love color? I can't really decide what direction I'm going so I just use everything I have....until I can have the exact look I want.....

Use what you have
Do what you can"

For the past few weeks I've been working for this beautiful client and loving every minute of it. I spent a couple hours transforming this super cool mirror which I wanted to hang on my wall when it was all said and done. I'll have MUCH better pictures once it's hung, the artwork opposite the mirror is hung and the lamps are reworked...much to do so stick with me for updates.
click through for the tip of the day and some inspiration:
A while back I was bragging on my friend Ashley Jo Green and I wanna show you some shots she took at our Open House. I setup a settee with some gauzy fabric, lamps & art then she stole the show...check her out:
As I observe my world speeding up quite a bit I almost feel as if I’ve
been lazy the past couple of months...hmmm....how can that be?I only thought I was busy before but now the real work lies ahead. That leads me to my newest project as well as the one thing I've never really mastered
something I made last year that I never shared...until now. Philippians4:6-7 says it all!!!!
My
defense mechanism when I’m going through something is to pull away, run away &
retreat. Run away mode has been in full
effect so I’m here to apologize. For me running away has always
How was your 4th of July celebration? We had a grand time at my friend's pool party...what a great group of friends we're blessed with! I failed to take my camera, or even my purse, along for the ride so I'm going to post about something quite random.
My living room came to life the other day! Stick
with me & I’ll let you into my head on this one....
Men
vs. Women
There are tons of books & loads of
websites discussing this very topic. Without
attempting to bore you with what you already know let my living room speak
Last night I stayed up till who knows what time with some old wood, paint, hot tea and my kitty. Here's what I came up with... "Have Faith in God and you will have VICTORY"
Thought I'd share...
Also, all the work on Marc's office:
bought 2 amazing desks at the thrift store for $25 each
painted each high gloss Maxi Teal then covered them with a gorgeous black & white graphic fabric then had some glass cut for the top--coulda spent a LOT less buying new desks but would they be this fabulous? I think NOT!
The rest of the room is on hold because of how much money we've spent thus far but on its way are floor to ceiling curtains in stunning bay window, round conference room table (a.k.a. black dining table), 4 chairs, cozy chair for this corner and I think that about does it....oh and more art. The one above might go in there if I make a sister piece:)
I forgot to take a close up & this is actually with my phone so a better picture with an actual camera is a must to showcase this room. I also bought the chair at a thrift store and recovered it in polka dots:) Happy space, huh:!:?? Will have to make a follow up post with more pictures. oh...one more thrift store find...miracle actually! Hold onto your pocket book....the mirror.....$20!!!! I know!
This is all I've been working on this week and it feels good to have half of it finished! I still have to finish the 2nd chair but attaching the buttons are the big challenge...first for me too!
So, yes, this is quite a boring post if not for some pictures. ni night....let the excitement return tomorrow after some rest & pain meds:) could use your prayers as well...thanks!
Remember....God loves you & has amazing plans for your life...oh, and YOU are beautiful!!!
I started with an old cabinet face, I guess. After sanding I decided to use old maps I found in my
Dad’s map stash that he had obviously used repeatedly. The tape was so brittle it just fell
off.
with such a deep passion for traveling & seeing the world, old maps always inspire me
so here we go....now what?
I used heavy duty spray adhesive to get the maps in perfect position
(big mess for your fingers)
lay them out before hand so you have a better idea of the finished
product before starting the mess
(see the picture above for detail) I added some old measuring items I found in my Dad's tools so I'm passing some funky, aged, usefulness down from Pops.
I painted these words:They Will Change Nations.
You may or may not understand the power of the spoken word...but I'm here to tell you.....Words have power, my friend! My children will see this & hear the
things we speak & pray over them & I know my boys WILL lead a FULL life
of victory, joy, favor, peace and love.I
strongly believe that words shape our lives and the lives of our children.
I had some powerfully negative words spoken over me as a child that rang in my ears for years....taunting me. I refused to believe them, I forgave, I released those thoughts and cares to God & have entered into success, joy, peace & VICTORY because God loves me SO much.
And HE LOVES YOU!!!!! You can affect nations....starting with your neighbors, friends, family, strangers in the grocery store. You don't have to preach, just LOVE. Ahhhh man, I'm preachin' right now:) hehehe. Anyway, you know what I mean....just love folks.
and by the way...I love you! And thanks for stopping in today to my randomly organized blogging ideas and thoughts:)
On our journey through
Austin we explored some vital topics such as bubbles for use in Child Entertainment
Emergencies Relating To Auto. (Also
referred to as CEERTA)
As a bonus I hired Marc as
my writer....I’m sure you’ll get a chuckle out of his posts as soon as they
grace the screen. No rush, Honey!
In addition to all this
excitement Leslie, my dear friend, and I started
More times than not I have to start something
or leave something in my way in order to irritate me to the point of frustration
which then turns to inspiration which finally pushes me to action.Huh?!!Stick with me...I’ll explain.
OK, so you’ve all seen my
take on “Love”, right? (see pictures)Well it’s been bothering me for some time...each time I see it I’m
fussed...over what?I couldn’t tell you
but at one point I told Marc “I need to get this out of my house”.
Rather than selling
something I’m not pleased with, I made a decision to act.I removed about half the jewels on the cross
knowing the cheap feel of the “junk jewelry” was part of the problem. If I’m going to stay true to my “farmhouse
glam” style “Love” needs to make a change. With the art just sitting on my wall torn to bits I was finally
irritated enough to take it down & start the recreating process.
A little about the final
result:I used several bits I found on
my Dad’s land and in his travel trailer after his death in January (see My Daddypage for more info) to add
personal depth & real life examples of love.Rather than hording these treasures for a
down the line project I wanted to infuse this piece with important (to me) parts of life and love.I framed out John 3:16 better so it’s more of
a focal point and added the bird to represent the Holy Spirit descending like a
dove on Christ. To
the one who eventually buys this piece I’ll share more:)
Twistie Tie:
A conversation with a
friend turned into a desire for a deeper revelation of the love of God.You see, I’ve always had loads of people (men
& women) I call dear friendsand as I continue to meet
new people (now just women since I’m married) I find myself drawn to the beauty,
sense of humor, kindness, or any number of other attributes in a person...and I
immediately want to add them to my friend list.I thought “how can I be a true friend to anyone when I have a hard time juggling
the MUSTs of life....God, husband, kids, church, clients, blog, show, art,
furniture and so much more.”So as you
dig deeper into what a true friend really is you find the One and Only TRUE
friend is Jesus....what an example!
I’m still sifting through
all this so I expect a whole new level of understanding ....stemming from that
one eye opening conversation.
We’ll see how I go...I’m
also growing leaps & bounds as a woman, mother & wife as I learn to get
a hold of my attitude & WALK IN LOVEat all times (even when it’s not so easy).I encourage you to inspect your “love walk”
and surgically remove any bitterness, resentment, anger or frustration seeping
out of your mouth, tone of voice or body language...hello---ME!!!!!. Check your
attitude and leave the funky junk outside that soft, moldable heart of yours....and
I’ll do the same:)
This work of art, to me,
represents the love that God had for us, you and me....that He sent His son
Jesus to die so that we might live.
Finally finished this one yesterday....such a fun process for me since I'm learning all about creating each time I pick up a paint brush, or glue stick, or glitter:) fun stuff ya'll!
My message today is: think outside the box and all around the materials in your world. I turned this kitchen table into a work of art by simply removing the legs & hardware and letting my creative juices pour all over it. I knew it would sport a word but allowed God to move as I put the brust to work.
I had a blast working on this piece ....would've gotten more action video during the process if my camera man were avaiable every time inspiration hit....he's a realtor on the side:)
my first "professional" photo shoot for my art
Marc's idea to take all the lamp shades off...brilliant!
Notice: the old artillary trunk I turned into a cabinet
(haven't added that to website yet so this is your first look)
I've already prayed it lands in the right home that will bring joy & fun to the right person's wall....
maybe even Gweneth Paltrow:)
yes, I used glitter! My TomBoy side had to give way to the GirlieGirl in me....
yet again.
Trust: trust encompasses a wide array of meanings...at a minimal you trust things like a chair to hold you up, a door knob to turn in your hand, your car to start each time, your kids to listen to you (maybe that falls under "hope"). Let me be more pointed here....Proverbs 3:5-6 says "Trust in Him (God) with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." that means He'll lead you like Psalms 32:8 says "I will guide you along the best pathways for your life. I will advise you and watch over you."
My hope for you is that you'll trust in the God that created you just perfectly YOU....and allow Him to do great things in your life. He wants you to succeed & prosper---if you're not so sure then read this to find out for yourself.
How’s your vision board going?Did you think I forgot?Come on!You know me better than that!
Do you want this year to be greater than any other year you’ve ever had?
I believe today is the start of the best of my life…not just the rest of it but the BEST! Now, I’ve had some pretty good times in my past but I don’t live there & you shouldn’t either.Good or bad, your past is just that ... your PAST.Your future can be greater than anything you’ve ever known...starting NOW...TODAY! here's a little clip about God's Goodness to get you excited about what HE has for YOU!!!
You onboard?
Starting your vision board:If you’ve been asking God “what do you want me to do, have, or be this year?” then I’m sure you’ve heard from Him.Even if all He told you was to take a little step in this direction or that one...you’re on the right track.
Tip #1:Get it on your vision wall......what do you want?See it in front of you every day & ya know what else?Believe that God is bigger than anything you can imagine...that He wants good things for you and that you can have ALL the blessings in His word. They’re not just for those big faith preachers, they are for YOU and ME!
Tip #2:check our mouth......your words, that is.What are you saying about your marriage, about your kids, about your finances?Speak LIFE.You’ve gotta speak “it” (whatever you’re believing for) into existence.Live decorated by speaking good things into your world.
Tip #3:I’m listening to my husband when he tells me (through his blog www.fiveminuteslate.com) to get my eyes off myself and my problem and set my eyes on Jesus. This week has been amazing as I’ve been pressing in to His presence through extra focused prayer time before the kids wake up (only about 3 snoozes)......just seeking Him and who He is.Fun stuff…and ya know something? We’ve been watching His favor increase greatly even in the past 48 hours.
Tip #4:Obey & He will bless the fruit of your hands.....your work...labor.....thoughts...family.....marriage......finances.Oh Yeah!!!
Tip #5:Get some cool magazines you love & cut out some things that represent what you want in your future then fix ‘em on your vision board.I guess this is the same as Tip 1…oops... oh well, read on......
This doesn’t just go for material possessions.....it also applies to your marriage (a happy couple that look to be in love), your family (if you want a baby or happy kids), travel (places you want to visit), words (positive words you want to see every day to get you to a higher place of victory).I have the word ZERO on my board representing my belief that all my debts are PAID OFF!!!I have the words “THE BLESSING” on my wall and “entertaining” and “waterfront living” and “play date” and “moving the mountain” (for my mountain of debt on its way into the sea). You get the idea...just start now, where you are.It doesn’t have to be beautiful and if you have some words you want to see every day like a scripture or something else specific don’t wait till you find it in a magazine, print it from a regular Word doc. in a neat font you can read easily.Read it every day & confess those blessings over your life.
This video may need to be revisited:)
Blessings to you & your family, your business & your finances!
This is one of my favorite projects right now...first because its COMPLETE:) and next because my Dad gave me all these railroad plates, He knew how much I love turning old junk into funky things.
I like hanging mine at the entry to my home..along with my old farm dinner bell which reminds my of my Granddad's farm.
I have 15 only so whoever wants one should let me know before they're gone...could be a week, could be 2 years before I sell em all:) Oh, and they're super heavy!!!
So have you heard about the Harvard study done years back about goals? Roughly from my memory I'll share what I can: they polled an entire class & only 3% wrote down their goals n plans. Years later they polled that same class & the 3% that wrote down their vision and goals made double ALL the other classmates combined. WOAH!!! Doesn't that make you wanna start writing down your goals, visions, dreams and plans? Well, it worked for me.
Check out my first episode of "Live Decorated" many many more to come folks...hope you enjoy, sorry I ramble a bit, hopefully I'll get better about completing a thought articulately:)
one of the things I forgot to share was some ways you can start your board...I bought that frame in the back for $1 at a garage sale then added cork board to the inside...use push pins to attach pictures that inspire you or reflect your vision for 2012.
Its a really big year and I want you to see all that God has for you come to FULL fruition this year....be bold. Seek Him & see what He wants for you to do....if it sounds too big for you to imagine doing or having then I'm willing it bet its GOD!!!
In order to better showcase a retail space for lease in downtown Buda we setup shop. It looks a bit like a gallery with the exception that nothing was hung on the walls (can't mess up a fresh paint job).....we didn't move ALL of our inventory in because of time & energy...not to mention SLEEP I need from time to time.
All in all, today was very successful....seemed to have several very interested people for the space and we sold quite a bit of our creations. Nothing big yet like the furniture or big pieces of art. There are a couple pieces I would love to keep in my collection so if they don't sell I’ll take that as an invitation to keep them for a bit longer.
At the risk of sounding a bit strange (you're reading this so most likely you already know the strange factor I possess) I would love the people who buy the art to send me a picture of them with their art on their wall….is this too much to ask?I’ve put so much time, energy, focus & prayer into each piece that I feel a strong attachment to them & know the new home they find will be perfect for them. They’ll be treated with respect & loveJOk…now I’m getting a bit silly! But really just an enthusiastic collector is all I ask…Marc just wants someone with cashJ
So in case you didn’t come see us today…and to all of you who did, THANK YOU…please come by for a visit after church tomorrow.Love n hugs.Trish
Oh, and a shout to Peggy… my VERY FIRST follower of my blog ...I met her today for the first time.
