Happy New Years Eve

Here I sit, Grape Nuts floating around in my bowl sweetened by the perfect Mr. Brown Sugar.  With a list of things to do (before 7pm tonight) that would keep a gal busy for weeks, I decided to take a wee break:)  What?!?!

Christmas Adventures: are they only funny to us???

Toby Mac is one anointed man!  The song "Steal My Show" on his new album has me in tears on my way to Mama's house for Christmas lunch...which we're now over an hour late:)  oops!  Sorry Mama!

This song gets me back to the center

Christmas Shopping Bliss

How many of you love Christmas shopping?  What about just giving gifts to people who make you a better you?  Anyone brave enough(or crazy enough) to hit Black Friday this year?  Anyone still have shopping to do?  yes and yes and a big YES!

Last year was my first ever Black Friday experience and I decided to make an adventure of it without expectations of finding anything, just spreading some joy & to simply see what all the fuss was about.  From 10:30pm to 5am I was all over Austin and even shot over to the Outlet Malls in San Marcos ...and had the time of my life--all alone!  This year I attended A Christmas Affair (and one to remember that's for sure)

So I'm only a month or so behind

Best Kept Small Town Secret

We've all done it. We drive past a cutie pie place your eyes just couldn't get enough of so you must stop for a look-see.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend my Honey and I were driving back to Aunt Sunday's house in Angleton, TX.  I sat in the passenger seat (Instagramming my last visual catch)

Entry Miss Matched

SO SO SO many posts to enter right now so I get a little overwhelmed...so here are some random shots of my entry....only a couple things to tweak...like the blue mirrors....not my favorite color choice.

can you tell I love color?  I can't really decide what direction I'm going so I just use everything I have....until I can have the exact look I want.....

Oh boy....here we go!!!! on a healthy lifestyle shift

No time to chat & dress this up with frilly words, folks!  I'm on a mission!  Actually WE are on a mission.  Marc & I are seriously making some mental & physical changes for our bodies, our family and our future.  No, really!

Juicing starts

Color with Confidence

This post is simply a call to all of you; rise up in confidence and boldly embrace color as your new easy-going, never-offended, always-there FRIEND.
color inspiration can come in the least likely of places: marbles for example
I spent time selecting my favorites from my sons' marble collection.  Then I felt compelled to take a picture.
Hysterical, really!

A little fact about me I don't readily admit (for good reason) is that I sometimes lack confidence when selecting colors to paint a wall and even to create a new work of art.   I may, however, be the only decorator you know who can humbly say "I don't always have it all together" and color is just one of those areas.  The major difference between me and most decorators out there is that I rely on my Maker (the Ultimate Designer of all time....GOD) to help along any process, including each and every client meeting or shopping adventure.

Today, for example, I stood in the center of a community center project I've been off and on for months.  All the selections had been made and ordered aside from ALL the interior wall colors.  The painters need these colors about NOW so I stood there with a color fan and I prayed.  I asked God what He wanted to see in there.   Then I opened the fan and started making selections.  The result: amazing neutral colors (they couldn't stress to me enough how neutral they wanted:) without using ANY beige (thank God), what's more is I'm totally at peace with every selection.
Oooh, look there.... a very important point worth mentioning....always go with the peace inside you.  This is especially true if you trust God to lead you and guide you...even in the simple decisions of life.  This is where you'll experience TRUE confidence!    Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust in Him in everything.

Psalm 32:8 says "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life, I will advise you and watch over you."  I believe it with all that is within me and He always comes through.

Do yourself a favor....pinpoint the colors that make you feel happy, relaxed, at peace, invigorated and even healthy.  What feel to you want to convey in your space?  Don't be afraid to make a mistake....Lord knows I've made my share and then some.
Now's a great time to get to painting ...right before Thanksgiving!

So goodnight, sweet dreams'
love n confidence in who you are.....

thrifting with a twist : a new wardrobe made easy

Many of you know I'm a big fan of thrifting (shopping thrift stores, garage sales and resale shops).  This form of shopping can be quite eventful and rewarding for a multitude of items; furniture, accessories, decor, vintage ANYTHING, funky finds of all sorts and yes, for the more patient folks, even clothes.

Oh my....is this an outfit post?  Why I think it is!

garage playtime

This is a test post from my iPad through a new blog app I'm trying out....learning new apps or programs isn't exactly my gifting but I CAN do it!

I can hear the cold front blowing in now and chills surge under my skin

I'm not getting much accomplished tonight.

Style Feature: lighting

Light is so important when entertaining, working, playing, relaxing, reading, etc.
Are you setting a mood? or do you need focused light for working or reading?
I was shocked while traveling Europe (especially Italy and France) that they lighting was so bright & harsh even in intimate restaurants.  Yes, you should be able to see your food but lighting sets the mood and I will most likely never remember the food I've eaten but I always

Style Feature: Texas Family History

A passion for decorating personal space doesn't require education or knowledge in the field.  It starts with a knowing of how you like to live and what you want to surround yourself with everyday.

My family was visiting the local pumpkin patch for some fall pictures this past weekend and as soon as we were out of the truck T made a bee line for this ancient wagon that looked like it jumped out of Bonanza.  Marc, being the rule-follower that he is (thank God for those), warned us we were treading on private property.  We then moved to the street to take pictures of this beautiful relic.  We weren't there but 15 seconds when

One thing is for sure: life is a blast and always an adventure.  The past week I've invited adventure by the dozens (up until the wee hours of the morning) so for this overview I've asked my delightful friend, Instagram, to help me highlight those moments.

I've been away from the computer a while so I've been inadvertently holding out on you.  You see a couple weeks ago I invited myself over to a friend's house (nothing new there) so I could get my fingers (and my iPhone) into every nook and cranny of her gigantic and exquisitely decorated home in Dripping Springs.

Celebrate someone...anyone....everyone!

keep reading to see why this ties into my post.....
We should always be celebrating something, at least that's how I wanna say I live each day:)

So why not celebrate someone who has made a difference in your life by doing, giving or sharing whatever comes up in your heart to do or say, for or to someone.  Let's ACT, my friends.  Act in love, by faith, with boldness.  I think we should start with our spouses or for the singles, your folks.  Here's a little tip: you'll walk away just as blessed as they are if not more so.

Let me leave you with a story to spark your creative giving juices:  read on....

back to life:-...and mirror beauty

Yay...you came back.  Thanks for the support.  Now that the initial shock has worn off for most of you let's get back to life....life decorated that is.

here's a closeup after refining the color of gold and inviting Instagram in
For the past few weeks I've been working for this beautiful client and loving every minute of it.  I spent a couple hours transforming this super cool mirror which I wanted to hang on my wall when it was all said and done.  I'll have MUCH better pictures once it's hung, the artwork opposite the mirror is hung and the lamps are reworked...much to do so stick with me for updates.

finally!!!!! my little news

Sharing this news without first sharing a scripture that fits the news so here we begin....

"Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life."   Galatians 6:4-5 (The Message Bible)

We've all been created for a special purpose and how can each of us live a truly "Decorated" life if we aren't living out that purpose we were made for?    Lesson from Galatians:

  • don't compare yourself with others
  • don't be filled with pride thinking its all about you
  • Live creatively and do your very best at whatever it is God has called you to.

For the past week and a half I've had this big, long post written and revised half a dozen times trying to wrangle words on a page into an eloquent, captivating announcement & explanation would have you on the edge of your seat.  Then I tossed the whole thing out then brought some of it back and so on...... Even though the details are between me, God and my Honey read on for .....the story and the news.  (it's a bit winded but worth the read)

ready for news? what about LOVE?

I had projected I would post my Big News Splash on Wednesday only to find my day booked solid: a client meeting, decor shopping, lunch with a friend, fabric shopping then rounding out nicely with housework and kiddos.  My whirlwind of a Wednesday came and went with only a thought or two casually running into my blog entry, mostly while driving all over Austin.

change: embrace it

As change occurs in our lives we either welcome it with open arms or fight against it.  Which way do you tend to lean?  I LOVE change.  I absolutely hate mundane, boring, never-changing ANYTHING!  I say that to say this new phase of my life has been a little....uh......challenging.

More to come SOON!  You won't believe the news I have for you:)
on a totally unrelated note: I absolutely LOVE it though.  I mean, really LOVE the look & feel of this studio.
I must have something brilliant like this in my forever home!  (this is NOT my picture by the way.-- inspired by and borrowed from Elle Decor)

BIG faith,,,BIG move....BIG trip

Lately I've been swamped, overwhelmed and bored all in the same little world I've created.  The boys are keeping me on my toes as always but since we've sold the house I've added sorting, decluttering, donating, giving & garage sale to my list of to-do's which must be complete in exactly ONE WEEK!  HA!!!!

I leave on a road trip to Iowa to visit my last living grandparent with my lovely Mama & 2 little boys in exactly 7 days ---roughly 18 hours in the car:)  Oh, and must be completely packed so my husband can move us into our new home while we're away.  Then

random acts of kindness

We should ALL be givers!

Something happened to us as we were in the Chick-fil-A drive thru line on the big "I support Chick-fil-A" day (August 1st).  You can imagine the line!  It wrapped around the building nearly twice.  We decided we were here to make our statement & we didn't mind waiting to do it.  As we waited a lady walked up to our truck & said her husband bought 12 milkshakes to give to those waiting in line.  Now here's the clincher: their reason for doing this: "Jesus loves you" she said.  Oh boy did we enjoy every drop of that perfectly crafted chocolate "Jesus loves me" milkshake.  Then I ran inside & found them for this picture:)  love me.
these are those amazing ladies who gave generously
to tell people "Jesus loves you"

 What a great idea, huh!?!?!

So I have some ideas how you can bless someone around you HERE and thoughts about giving HERE and HERE

this is a quote in Chick-fil-A that I thought fits well
Someone blessed us today with a small loaf of homemade banana bread.  They just dropped it by Marc's office....SO SWEET!!!
Why not encourage all of us by sharing in the comment section how you blessed someone recently.

stand tall :: stand strong

Me and Ko after the open house
These words have been ringing in my head like a sounding gong, tonight especially.  I noticed I've have been walking, sitting and even standing terribly ever since I became a mommy.  My boys stand about 4 months shy of their second and fourth birthdays and all this time my body experienced something I'd compare to two rigorous back-to-back biology experiments

My Dance

Last night as I joyfully whirled around my house accomplishing menial tasks I was reminded of a dance.  Ballroom? not so sophisticated... Salsa?.... not so booty oriented. Two-Step?.... not so country.  Then what kind of dance was I thinking of?

time, ideas & encouragement for all:)

The past 5 days have been a whirlwind of motion for my life. During this time I've run into so many things I want to share yet where do I find the time? Truth is, there just hasn't been. For example, last night I had to get Marc's office painted and dry before movers arrived at 8am. I got home at 2am...just a little example of how busy it's been since last Wednesday.  (I will soon have pictures of before & after of the new office but right now we're mid project & it looks TERRIBLE).

I'm not even quite sure what this post will be as I sit for a brief collect-my-thoughts moment in Starbucks feeling as though I may collapse in a flood of emotions and

Bee Box & another confession...is this getting old?

Confession....yet again!

All that talk about my 6 am appointment with God before the kids get up and I failed.  I was told 3 different alarms went off ...I only heard one & it didn't do its job.  I must need a volume adjustment or some self-control lessons.  I nearly skipped my nightly post but thought I'd share one more little project with you.

A "Bee Box" just for those little bits that clutter your dresser or for your hair pins in the bathroom.  Hope you like the newest addition to my portfolio of transformation creations:)  It'll be for sale this weekend at my husband's big open house for his Elliott Ranch listing--a champagne shopping extravaganza--fun!!!!

As I observe my world speeding up quite a bit I almost feel as if I’ve been lazy the past couple of months...hmmm....how can that be?  I only thought I was busy before but now the real work lies ahead.  That leads me to my newest project as well as the one thing I've never really mastered

How was your 4th of July celebration?  We had a grand time at my friend's pool party...what a great group of friends we're blessed with!  I failed to take my camera, or even my purse, along for the ride so I'm going to post about something quite random.

Happy Freedom & Independence Day!!!

I had this big long post ready for tonight but I scrapped it for this. (you realize I type these up the night (or early morning) before I post at 8am:)

In celebration of the 4th of July my cousin, Natalie, (who’s in town for a couple weeks) and I decided to make some special cupcakes for the pool party we’re attending tomorrow.  We signed up to bring watermelon but to be quite honest we spent most of the evening devouring one of the 2 we bought for the occasion.

 therefore.....

at 7pm Plan B was in full force.

We made simple chocolate mini-cupcakes with vanilla icingboring, right!  For added pizazz we topped them off with sliced strawberries & a blue berry.

Admitting this to you is a bit tough...I use box mixes sometimes.  We decided to cheat a bit since it was a bit late when we started and the grocery store

Guest Post :: My Cup

This is written by my good friend since college, Kim.  She and I have some wacky stories to tell and she is to this day the silliest person (other than myself) I have ever met.  An innocent, loving silliness that marks her in my heart forever.  These are her words and her pictures.  Please welcome her with love and sweet comments so she'll come back again.

"To sum it up, in my opinion, living decorated is living a loving life.   Spreading the love.   To spread the love, you must first be filled with love.   Sometimes I am, sometimes I am not.
