When's the last time you had a really bad day? A
day where you go back in your mind to that Calgon commercial ....sing it with me ladies.....”Calgon, take me
away!”
Ahhh, you remember.
That was my day; take me AWAY!
I try never to tell you (or
my other friends Twitter, Instagram or even Facebook) when I’m having a
struggle with something because I don’t want to speak negatively. No one likes to read your junk as they’re
scrolling....people want to be encouraged...uplifted....not read your (or my)
drama. So I keep it to myself, my husband and my sweet
children.
I just miss you....I have so many stories I want to tell. Like how Marc and I ran across this rockin' bakery today in Oakhill (Austin, TX to my friends from around the globe) called Sweet Treets.
elegant, refined, delicate, fanciful yummy to the tummy ART is what we have here

The other day we were flying through Wimberley trying to make it to a 5pm appointment and as we whizzed past this cute little shop with these perfectly (ME) letters on the outside spelling "Love Home" I screeched "we've gotta go back there...did you see that shop?"
she sells these letter signs....how cool are they.
Nope, anyway off to our appointment.
Well, low and behold on our way
Take grocery shopping for example. Most times in my every day life I try to
approach each new moment as if it were an adventure. This is one way I personally Live
Decorated.
I admit, it took a wee bit to get
past the mild case of shock from reading my husband’s post....about ME and then
the new year kicked into high gear leaving me no time to reply or share some of
the weeks of interesting material that’s been piling up on my iPhone.
You know as well as anyone, even if
this is your first visit to my blog
How many of you love Christmas shopping? What about just giving gifts to people who make you a better you? Anyone brave enough(or crazy enough) to hit Black Friday this year? Anyone still have shopping to do? yes and yes and a big YES!
Last year was my first ever Black Friday experience and I decided to make an adventure of it without expectations of finding anything, just spreading some joy & to simply see what all the fuss was about. From 10:30pm to 5am I was all over Austin and even shot over to the Outlet Malls in San Marcos ...and had the time of my life--all alone! This year I attended A Christmas Affair (and one to remember that's for sure)
We've all done it. We drive past a cutie pie place your eyes just couldn't get enough of so you must stop for a look-see.
Over the Thanksgiving weekend my Honey and I were driving back to Aunt Sunday's house in Angleton, TX. I sat in the passenger seat (Instagramming my last visual catch)
Many of you know I'm a big fan of thrifting (shopping thrift stores, garage sales and resale shops). This form of shopping can be quite eventful and rewarding for a multitude of items; furniture, accessories, decor, vintage ANYTHING, funky finds of all sorts and yes, for the more patient folks, even clothes.
Oh my....is this an outfit post? Why I think it is!
time crunch + husband scowling face = quick click at the gas station "hurry Aunt Sunday!"
I promised more pictures so here I am...with more pictures of the wonderful people we had at our open house in Buda, TX a couple weeks ago. There still remains a video to edit but that'll come...patience.
even though this is a dress it proves my point: you can get amazing things at thrift stores if you just take the time
I'm here to encourage all those Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel and (sadly) Rooms to Go kind of vanilla bix box store addicted people I know(you know who you are) to venture into imaginative resourcefulness....i.e. creativity. Today we’ll start a new round of posts
that are sure to be as random and inspirational as I am in life (and blogging:)
I'll introduce you to my world of picking, thrifting, treasure hunting & garage sale-ing (hmmm, my husband will have to tell me how to say that). Where I find items, each for its own reason & purpose then I'll make an attempt to
Lightning speed, blink of
your eye, glimpse into the sweet funk of Wimberleystarts off with a deep conversation over kids &
outdoor activities.Ro & I are big
into the outdoors but I noticed I’ve not been as horse or hiking active as I
used to be before my 2 little blessings came into my life.So I start asking her how having 2 kids
affects her outdoor experience.
This is just a small taste
as we drive home from a day with the horses & kiddos (Ro & I share
similar passions as you’ll hear).I
apologize in advance as I would’ve had MUCH more footage had my memory tank not
given out on me (yet again)....when, I ask, will I finally invest in more
memory?????
The charm of the sweet
little Texas river town goes beyond words....though here I try to shape some
just for you.
The store I tried to share
with you is Star Antiques. My battery
ran out (go figure) as I was traipsing through her garden so I didn’t even get
any footage inside the shop but I guarantee her website doesn’t do her
justice. They sell loads of fun, one of
a kind items and specialize in vintage lighting.Since vintage anything usually catches my eye
and good lighting is one of the best investments you can make into your
home...the pair is perfect.I just might
make a special trip back just to get it on film for you but I can guarantee my
next client willing to launch outside the big box retailer world will have a
story to tell with their new lighting acquisition.
Twistie Tie:
If you have kids you must
introduce them to your world of activities and fun at a young age so they can
share your sense of adventure. On the
same note they pick up more than you think they do .....attitudes, tone of
voice, your habits, etc.God has been
majorly dealing with me about my attitude/frustration....so I’m bringing that to you.Let’s all check our hearts before we expect
our kiddos to check their hearts & attitudes. They will mirror what they see you do so make
sure you’re a GOOD example for them.WOW.....I’m learning that first hand RIGHT NOW!!!!
The one thing I’m grateful
for ...His
unconditional, faithful, never-ending, POWERFUL LOVE.When
I mess up I can ask His forgiveness & know I have it.I then have to ask my son to forgive me...and
the sweet thing is...he doesJWhat a great opportunity we have to shape our
little ones and draw them closer to the Father...who LOVES us all sooooooooo
much!
Love n cuddles.....and
Happy Happy Resurrection Day to all of you amazing folks out there!!!!
Trish
Oh and please remember to
teach your little ones that Easter is NOT about candy, hunting eggs and a
cuddly bunny (although all that can be super fun)....it’s about the death,
burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! It’s ALL about HIM...and His love for
you...and those little ones....please tell ‘em!
My new blogger fashion friends inspired this post: I'm adding a new (random & infrequent) facet to my blog...my style.Bear with me here....I’ve never done this
before & honestly felt a bit goofy asking my husband to take a picture of
my outfit.Especially considering we
were pulling up to his parent’s house (yes this is their land...amazing on its own:)
So here it is ... my
first ever outfit to share with you and the reason I've gotta share it.
My skirt I took a floppy sweater (gift from my cousin) and cinched it up with a vintage brooch and added a vintage purse (can't have enough of those) with sparkly Enzo ballet flats
This is a better shot of my skirt....the bottom has this gorgeous see-through pattern which moves the light through quite nicely. ready for the shocker? It's a thrift store find....YEP...$6 to be exact!
I know all my friends take a few shots to
get the whole look but let's be real...this is the only picture Marc didn't
slice off my feet....gotta go with what I can get:) (NOT complaining)
Little
style tip from moi: don’t be so prideful or afraid to shop thrift stores. Yes,
you heard me, hit your local thrift store, Salvation Army or Savers (not a fan
of Goodwill even a little) for some new garb. You see, I used to be a thrift
queen (my girl Mariana taught me the ropes) & would end up with the best
brands and great buys (before
my new “mom body”and lowered--but rising--self esteem).
During the blogger conference is when I had my “ahhhhh, I’m back” moment. We were all bused to Savers, served snacks
and coffee, given tips from the experts (Pamela, Jessie, Jentine, and Elissa) then
let loose....that is when I regained my thrifting confidence. Thanks ladies!
ow that you know what I wore last week (yes, I'm a bit behind blogging)...lets get on with it. You see, one of my favorite boutiques, housed in the small, quaint town of Buda, along the beautiful tree-lined Main St. is Buda's Red Door. They had a little party Wednesday featuring my new favorite Cakery, Wild Flour. which is due to open SOON.
Delectably Red Velvet....cake balls coordinating with the "everything shapes us" art
Amanda and her sister are opening Wild Flour Cakery & Boutique next door to Buda's Red Door...soon
Waxing Poetic is one of my all time favorite jewelry lines
this is just one of their displays....come to their store to see and buy more
this is where Marc buys a lot of my long shirts...
what I love is they only buy a few of each style so I don't see
anyone else with my shirt:)
Good Works bracelets are all over the media (or so I hear)
they give 25% of their proceeds to charitable organizations
Salon One12 is located in the back of the store....Rebecca is great!
love her vintage salon chairs!
Unique clothes, shoes, accessories,
cards, household items, decor and art
Finally, let me explain my "Twistie Tie" approach. I love to "twist" everything back to God, my Maker, the One I owe my life to then "tie" it in to what I'm telling you about today.
If I get a bad haircut Marc is usually the one who hears about it...he actually told me last time...call one of your girlfriends:) Well I was thinking about it (while steaming) and thought if God has every hair on my head counted (and who cares about that detail, right?) then doesn't He care that I'm happy with my hair? The answer is YES!
He cares about everything that concerns you.
"Cast all your anxiety on Him, for He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7
Dude...I've used this one for LOADS of cares....He's kept me in everything:)
Hugs n love with yummy cake balls and pretty earrings...
I'm not behind...oh no I'm not. When I accomplish my task is precisely when it needed to be done.:)
I'd love to share with you some vendors at the TxSC Conference that really left a lasting impression on me. Most likely this is one of several posts I'll be adding about the conference because it rocked my world on so many levels.....I thought here was a good launching pad so come along now....
I'll be contacting these and other remarkable companies to hopefully join my next annual F.O.G. Shopping Extravaganza....TBA
In no particular order...other than the order their cards fell on my desk in front of me....please click on the links to learn more about these awesome companies, how you can get involved and add them to your collectoin....start today!
buying one of these helps provide jobs to the poor:)
Are you inspired to add to your wardrobe & cosmetic collection??? I hope so! Watch out for some more great creators, designers & products....coming soon!
Tonight I sat to write a quick email to a friend about shopping for clothes. This is just a little exerpt from that email: Can you believe I now leave email messages that sound just like my 22 minute long phone messages (sorry Melissa). Sometimes I even have to call back a few times to continue the message I was trying to leave until the voicemail service had to cut me off....the nerve! To my many fans......lets shop!
What are your favorite brands? Someone once (before Christ in my life) called me a "brand whore" and as awful as that sounds I think its a bit true (in a good way). I have always loved that excellent brands grace the hangers in my closet. (25lbs to go until I'm back to shopping--"deals find me everywhere I go in the name of Jesus")My God is more than enough to supply ALL my needs. He desires me to dress well….think of Solomon, yet God said that he wasn’t dressed nearly as well as the lilies in the field where are here today & gone tomorrow…..then He goes on to say that God loves us even more that those beautiful lilies in the field….so how much more does He want me to have beautiful things & honor Him with the way I look.My Pastor’s wife looked so amazing this past Sunday!I love her new style….classy, polished, modern, and hip.She said she really loves White House/Black Market.Well that used to be one of my favorite stores to shop.I WILL be shopping there again friends….oh yes I will!I also really like BCBG, Banana Republic, Express (for pants), Nordstrom’s, Victoria’s Secret, Saks, and the list goes on and on and on.That Kate Spade diaper bag that was amazing!!!!And it would work so wonderfully as my carry on for traveling the world with my family.Would love to say I have it all planned out but one thing is for certain: I will go where God tells me to go & by the Grace of God & the help of the Holy Ghost I will do what He says to do.Big things!Big things!
Oh, back to the email I sent to a friend a few minutes ago:
Here's the other side of that comment and this is really where my heart is: I want NOTHING outside of God's will for my life....that applies to everything for me & I'm learning how to make that truth bigger than anything else I know. That being said, please do not give ...to me or anyone else....unless the Holy Spirit says so:) that wasn't correction....just a little taste of what I tell myself. I love giving so I'm inclined to give anytime to anyone & sometimes I don't ask God first. I've missed it several times & should've sown somewhere else. Anyway....how much fun it'll be to give away my first car:) wooohooo!!!! I'm about to get up & dance right now! Oh, wait....don't wanna wake Marc up!
I'm so stirred up with the Word of God...the POWER & authority I have as a believer is working right now in the realm of the Spirit to cause my situation to change in the name of Jesus. Our lives are about to get a whole lot more fun! Grace, adventure, power, love, victory, healing, joy unspeakable, and all that other GOOD stuff!
I feel as if I'm just sitting here having a chat with you. funny thing, technology...I can sit here & pour my heart out to you...my friend....and I can edit (which I mistakenly rarely do)....I can leave, eat some frozen custard (who said I can't lose weight with a frozen custard treat at midnight), come back & continue my thoughts on an entirely different level or subject and you'll never feel a pause as you read this seemingly endless email. All this just to say, yes.....lets shop!
